Education is very important for me but I always viewed education as a tool to obtain a possibility to work in the field of special interest for me. In this regard, sonography is the field, where I would like to become a well-qualified professional. I was interested in medicine and I believe sonography is particularly prospective. In addition I feel a strong inclination to sonography. I hope this career will help me to reach my personal and professional goals. Frankly speaking, one of the main motivators, which encouraged me to choose the profession of a sonographer, was the salary. The salary of a sonographer can be as high as $40.000 annually. In addition, I do not really enjoy the idea of being exposed to any blood or any other bodily fluids and the position of a sonographer will let me work in health care and still avoid the exposure to blood and other bodily fluids. Moreover, it is really fascinating to make sonograms, when I can see how the fetus is growing up.

In actuality, I have little experience in the field of sonography because I have not worked much in this field. Nevertheless, I have a cousin, whose experience is very important for me. I learned from my cousin what sonography actually is and my cousin helped me to like this occupation. At any rate, at the moment, I believe that the position of a sonographer is not just interesting but also this position is very important because I can help people and, what is more, I can make sonograms to see yet unborn babies and track their development. My cousin told me a lot about this job and now I am really inspired to obtain my professional education in this field. I believe that the influence of my cousin was very significant in the choice of my profession but my decision to become a sonographer was a conscious choice made after difficult reflections on my future professional development.

In this regard, I am aware of numerous responsibilities of a sonographer. In fact, a good sonographer should be in contact with special equipment that directs non-invasive, high-frequency sounds waves into areas various areas of a patient’s body. In the course of sonograms, sonographers have to identify unhealthy areas and take a photograph or video to show them to the interpreting physician. In addition, a sonogrpaher provides an oral or written summary of the technical findings to the physician for medical diagnosis. A sonographer has to collaborate with physicians and other members of the health care team. A sonographer should come prepared to the specific workplace environment for a sonographer should make sonograms and interpret them that is quite different from a routine job of other health care professionals. Sonographers have to perform different functions and procedures, such as the maintenance of the equipment that is needed for sonograms and communication with patients to make them moving into the position appropriate for making a sonogram. As a rule, sonographers work 40 hours a week (Klerckson, 66).

At the same time, sonographers can work in different organizations. Therefore, they have to develop their professional skills and abilities to be able to work in the diverse environment and in different organizations. What is meant here is the fact that sonographers can make a successful career and earn salaries that reached $57,160 in May 2006, according to the Bureau of labor Statistics (Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, 1). Moreover, sonographers working in private organizations may have higher salaries than those working in public healthcare setting (Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, 182). Therefore, I can make a successful career as a sonographer. At any rate, I can count on a high salary and stable position as a sonographer.

However, I need to receive professional education to obtain a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certificate or a sonography certificate. Both certificates are valid and valuable in the contemporary health care setting. However, professionals obtaining either certificate need to meet high requirements and standards established in the field of sonography. At the same time, as I obtain a certificate in the field of sonography, I will get ample career opportunities for I will be able to work in virtually any health care organization, where professional skills and abilities of a sonographer are needed. Individuals eager to obtain an MRI certificate or a sonography certificate should come prepared to ultrasound classes and training, which they have to pass successfully and to develop at least basic skills and abilities in the field of ultrasound. In fact, future sonographerrs should have in-depth knowledge not only in the field of health care but also in other fields because the work of a sonographer is closely intertwined with physics, maths, and other branches of science, which may not be directly related to medicine. Future sonographers should match the established requirements in the field of sonography. When future sonographers have their ultrasound certificate, they can carry on their education to complete their learning in the field of sonography proper. In fact, obtaining training and having adequate ultrasound education are basic requirements future sonographers should match. Most students enter the field of sonography after completing a certification program, which may last for 1-2 years (Karmermier 356).

In addition, the education of professional sonographers is not limited to the field of ultrasound alone. In this regard, future sonographers should carry on their education and training to enter the field of diagnostic medical sonography. At this point, it is important to place emphasis on the fact that the development of a solid theoretical ground alone is not enough for well-qualified sonographers. Instead, they need to have practice and training in real life situations. Sonographers may have training in hospitals, vocational-technical institutions, colleges and universities, and the Armed Forces. Some training programs accept applicants with a scientific background or have some experience in the field of health care. Some organizations can take into consideration the educational background of applicants, including their high school education, especially if applicants have proved to be particularly successful in the field of mathematics and science, as well as liberal arts. Colleges and universities offer different training programs, which may last from two to four years. The training programs end up with an associate or bachelor’s degree students obtain as they complete their training successfully. Today, two year programs are most prevalent. In the course of learning, future sonographers have to attend classes in anatomy, physiology, instrumentation, basic physics, patient care, and medical ethics (e.g.: Diagnostic Medical Sonographers).

Furthermore, individuals willing to obtain education in the field of sonography should plan their future career. At the same time, they should collect information on potential places of employment and training. For instance, students should find out organizations and locations, where they can find employment and where they can make a successful career as well as they should find locations, where they have little, if any, employment opportunities. In actuality, the most prospective locations for future sonographers are Boston, Massachusetts, Moines, Iowa, Madison, Wisconsin, Florida, California and Dakota (Ultrasound Technology Career, 2009).

Thus, taking into account all above mentioned, I would like to place emphasis on the fact that I am eager to complete my education and to become a professional sonographer. I believe this occupation is very important and prospective in the contemporary health care environment. In addition, I do like this job because I feel that I have inclinations to sonography. In addition, I expect to make a successful career in sonography and to have a high level of income for salaries of sonographers are high. However, before making a successful career, I have to obtain professional education and I am ready to work and to learn hard to become a well-qualified sonographer.

It is known that today the issue concerning the role of alcohol in the life of an individual is one of the key issues in our society because alcohol abuse results in harm to individuals’ health and makes life a burden. Energy drinks as well as alcohol injure human health. However, when we mix alcohol with energy drinks, the effect can be extremely dangerous. It is difficult to imagine an individual who knows all the negative effects of mixing alcohol with energy drinks. Mixing them leads to serious heart problems, degradation of nervous system and intoxication of the body as the result of dehydration.

It is found that energy drinks that are mixed with alcohol create a rather dangerous combination which is very popular with young people aged 16-20 years. According to the numerous researches conducted by the American College of Sports Medicine, all energy drinks contain caffeine, which can be found in high amounts, or some other extremely powerful stimulants, including evodamine and yohimbine. The last ones are considered to be the most dangerous substances than caffeine. That is why it is proved that energy drinks mixed with some amount of alcohol pose really significant risks to the health of those young people who prefer such extraordinary drinks. (Hendrick)

It is found that the combination of alcohol with energy drinks can lead to serious heart problems, including heart failure and heart arrest. If an individual drinks alcohol combined with energy drinks rather regularly, for example every day, he or she may experience either rapid or irregular heart beating and high blood pressure. It is known that most energy drinks contain not only high levels of caffeine, but also powerful herbal stimulants which can cause problems with heart beating. According to the medical data, most of them are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration of the United States. (The Danger of Mixing Alcohol with Energy Drinks)

In addition, these powerful stimulants which can be found in the composition of the most energy drinks cause psychological effects to human body. The drinkers become not only stressed, they can even lose control over their emotions. All these facts influence the work of heart. Today, it is not difficult to call the long-term effects of mixing alcohol with stimulators and depressants. This combination may lead to serious psychological disorders. (Leon)

The mixture of alcohol with energy drinks can lead to serious problems with nervous system. It is found that any energy drink can provide a deceptive boost in awareness of an individual who combines energy drinks with alcohol. Besides, there is a risk of total intoxication. Of course, nervous system suffers from this combination. The impaired decision making is one of the negative effects. While the alcohol alone can have a negative effect on the drinker’s reasoning and decision making, the mixture of energy drinks with alcohol can lead to stresses and inadequate behavior including violent actions, assaults, rape and so on. The above mentioned actions are considered to be illegal and those who perform them will be punished. (Moisse)

Moreover, many specialists state that both alcohol and energy drinks have a tendency to cause serious dehydration of the human body. When these drinks are mixed together, the effects can be more severe. The process of dehydration occurs faster when alcohol is mixed with energy drinks, and the results can be potentially dangerous. In addition, it is necessary to say that when the energy drinks reduce the perceived feeling of the alcohol intake for a short period of time, it may be worn off in several hours. This process produces hang-overs that are extremely powerful the next day, as dehydration plays an important role in the effects of any hang-over. One of the experts who studies the effects of alcohol states that “both caffeine and alcohol are diuretics, they cause the body to pass water, so mixing energy drinks with alcohol can leave drinkers badly dehydrated, possibly leading to vomiting, nausea, and other health problems in the long term”. (Diaz)

It could be argued that mixing alcohol and energy drinks leads to many negative effects because these drinks, if you take them is small portions, can provide a brief energy boost to the human body and to help a person to stay awake and alert when he is tired. They provide a so called short-term improvement in performance. (Thelin)

But despite these contradictions, mixing alcohol and energy drinks is destructive to health. The present survey has been conducted in October, 2007 in the USA. About 150 young people took part in the survey. The main purpose of the survey is to prove the fact that mixing alcohol with energy drinks can lead to negative effects including problems with nervous system, heart disorders and dehydration. Several survey takers asked questions concerning the effects of this combination of beverages. All the questions included in the survey were connected with the participants’ experience in mixing alcohol with energy drinks. The survey analysis showed the following results: about 80% of young people who took part in the survey confirmed that mix beverages including alcohol and energy drinks could cause negative effects. 45% of participants expressed their opinion concerning alcohol abuse in our society. They stated that alcohol abuse damages our lives and health. About 37% of young people proved the fact that they often use the services of healthcare providers in case of intoxication. 92% of participants agreed that it is necessary to inform all drinkers of the negative effects of mixing energy drinks with alcohol. (Leon)

In conclusion, it is necessary to say that the issue concerning negative effects of mixed beverages, such as energy drinks with alcohol is one of the most important issues in our society because thousands of young people can injure their health. That is why it should be discussed in all educational institutions of the United States in order to explain young people the risks they are exposed to in case of drinking such combination of beverages. They should know that mixing alcohol with energy drinks can lead not only to serious psychological problems and heart disorders but also to degradation of nervous system and dehydration of the body.

Today, the problem of air pollution is one of the major threats to the public health. The development of modern technologies, industrialization and the wide use of fossil fuels as the major source of fuels, as well as the use of various chemicals contribute to the growing air pollution. In actuality, the spread of the air pollution is enormous that put under a threat the public health and threatens to the health of people living not only in urban but also in remote areas. In such a situation, the air pollution becomes an overwhelming problem that affect the entire nation. No wonder, today, air pollution is one of the major threats to the public health.

At this point, the vulnerability of the population to the impact of air pollution can hardly be underestimated because people are always exposed to the impact of the air pollution (EPA, 2009). People cannot live without air and, while they are exposed to the impact of the open air, they may suffer from the negative impact of the air pollution. In such a situation, people cannot escape from the impact of their air pollution but they can and have to decrease the air pollution to minimize its negative impact on their health.

In this respect, it is important to place emphasis on the fact that the air pollution can lead to the development of numerous health problems (Kehrl, 2004). In actuality, health disorders provoked by the air pollution are diverse but they are extremely dangerous.

One of the most dangerous effects of the air pollution is the development of asthma. People exposed to the impact of the air pollution and emission of greenhouse gas and other emissions can develop asthma (Kehrl, 2004). This is a chronic disease involving difficulty with breathing. However, it is the air pollution that is responsible, to a significant extent, for the development of asthma in the population.

Another disease provoked by the air pollution is cancer. In fact, the air pollution increases the risk of the development of cancer consistently, especially lung cancer (EPA, 2009). Cancer is a very dangerous disease, which can lead to the death of a patient, if it is not diagnosed at the early stage of its development.

In addition, the air pollution can lead to the development of heart and cardiovascular diseases. These diseases are major causes of death. The development of heart and cardiovascular diseases put under the risk the life of people.

In such a situation, children face a higher risk of the development of numerous health problems, including asthma and cardiovascular diseases, than adults. Children are more vulnerable to the negative impact of air pollution on their health because their body is in the process of formation (). If the human body is exposed to the impact of negative environmental factors, such as the air pollution, children develop chronic diseases, such as asthma. In addition, some chemical elements, such as lead, are located low to the ground at the height of children, whereas adults, being higher, are less vulnerable to the impact of these dangerous elements. Therefore, children face higher risks of developing different health problems provoked by the air pollution.

Today, the number of children suffering from asthma and other diseases provoked by air pollution grows. Children are vulnerable to the negative impact of the air pollution and they cannot cope with this problem on their own (Children’s 2010). Their parents also can do next to nothing, if there is no large scale program of the prevention of the negative impact of their air pollution and considerable reduction of the air pollution.

In such a context, the necessity to protect the public health through the reduction of the air pollution becomes obvious. In addition, it is necessary to develop preventive measure and programs, which can minimize not only the negative impact of the air pollution on human health but also stimulate the healthy lifestyle in children to prevent numerous health problems (Children’s 2010). In this regard, the role of the state agencies, health care organizations, social workers, and the entire society is particularly important. In fact, it is through the common efforts of the public, state, and each individual, it is possible to solve the problem of the air pollution and save the health of children and public health at large.
